Paltrin L.L.C. (“Paltrin”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) provides the
Paltrin One platform, a smart home and HVAC monitoring system designed
to deliver insights into environmental conditions, energy usage, connected device status,
and system performance.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it,
and what choices users have when using the Paltrin One platform.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
Account Information
- Name and email address, including account information provided through Firebase Authentication
- Basic account identifiers needed to create, manage, authenticate, and secure user accounts
Device & Sensor Data
- Temperature, humidity, air quality, and HVAC-related metrics
- Energy usage data from connected or integrated devices, including supported services such as Emporia, SmartThings, and Kasa
- Device status, configuration, identifiers, telemetry, and diagnostic information needed to display device information and operate the platform
Camera and QR Code Information
- Paltrin may request access to your device camera when you choose to scan a Matter setup QR code or other supported device setup code.
- Camera access is used only for user-initiated device setup and onboarding.
- Paltrin does not use the camera for background recording, background monitoring, advertising, analytics, or unrelated purposes.
- Paltrin may allow you to select or upload an image containing a Matter setup QR code. This image is used only to read the setup code needed to connect a compatible device to your Paltrin system.
- QR code images and camera scans are not sold and are not used for advertising.
Usage Data
- App interactions, diagnostics, crash logs, and performance data
- Information used to improve app reliability, security, troubleshooting, and platform performance
Third-Party Integration Data
- When you connect third-party services, Paltrin may collect or receive information needed to enable those integrations.
- This may include device names, device identifiers, device states, telemetry, authorization status, and related integration data.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected data to:
- Provide real-time monitoring, alerts, dashboards, and insights
- Display environmental, energy, HVAC, and connected device information
- Enable Matter device setup and supported device onboarding
- Enable and maintain integrations with connected devices and third-party services
- Authenticate users and protect account security
- Improve system performance, reliability, and user experience
- Diagnose technical issues, prevent abuse, and maintain platform security
- Comply with legal obligations when required
3. Data Sharing
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not use camera scans or QR code images for advertising.
- We may share data with trusted service providers necessary to operate the platform, such as Firebase, AWS, database providers, hosting providers, analytics, diagnostics, and security services.
- We may share information with third-party integrations when you choose to connect those services and when sharing is necessary to provide the requested integration.
- We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- We may disclose information when necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of Paltrin, our users, or others.
4. Data Storage & Security

5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Paltrin One platform,
operate connected device features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce
agreements, maintain security, and support legitimate business purposes.
QR code images used for device setup are used only for onboarding compatible devices. Paltrin
does not use QR code images for advertising. Where possible, QR code scanning and image decoding
are performed only for the purpose of extracting the setup code needed to connect the device.
6. User Rights & Control
Users may:
- Access certain account and device information within the app
- Disconnect supported third-party integrations
- Request deletion of their account and associated data
- Contact Paltrin with privacy-related questions or requests
Some data may need to be retained when required by law, for security purposes, to prevent fraud
or abuse, or to complete legitimate business or legal obligations.
7. Camera and Device Permissions
Paltrin may request device permissions, such as camera access, only when needed to provide app
functionality. Camera permission may be requested so you can scan Matter setup QR codes or other
supported setup codes. You can deny or revoke camera permission through your device settings,
but some setup features may not work without it.
If you choose to select an image containing a setup QR code, Paltrin uses that selected image
only to read the setup information required for device onboarding. Paltrin does not require broad
access to your photo library unless a platform permission is necessary for the feature to work
on your device.
8. Third-Party Integrations
Paltrin integrates with third-party services and connected device platforms, such as SmartThings,
Emporia, Kasa, and other supported services. These services may collect, use, store, or process
data according to their own privacy policies and terms. Paltrin is not responsible for the privacy
practices of third-party services.
When you connect a third-party service, you authorize Paltrin to access and use information from
that service as needed to provide the requested integration.
9. Children’s Privacy
Paltrin One is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information
from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify
users through the app, website, or other appropriate means. Continued use of the Paltrin One platform
after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
